The Moon Valley.
This desertic place and touristic attraction point, is located in the cord of salt (called The Salt Cordillera ), located in the Atacama Desert, 15 km west of San Pedro de Atacama and at 100 km. of Calama, belonging to the region of Antofagasta. In 1982, it was declared a sanctuary of nature and is part of the community or Ayllo de Coyo, it is also part of the National Reserve of the flamingos. Although there is no observation of these birds. It is accessible from San Pedro de Atacama.
Its name refers to the Moon, its incredible visual similarities, its salt caves, its central crater, its great dunes and its arid valleys where one can admire geological formations like the three Marias or the amphitheater. This landscape captivates visitors for its extravagant beauty and spectacular sunset at the Belvedere of Cari.
